Recycle the word famous in western countries yet to be reach Asia of course in India. Plastic almost every where like carry bags, soft drinks can, water bottles and in many other forms but most of us not aware of recycle the non destroyable monster "The Plastic"  .

Plastic was invented by a bunch of chemists in a series of inventions(1862-1907), Bakelite  was the first commercial form of plastic. Plastic can cause lots of health issues to us humans, animals and to our environment.

All the commercial plastic products have an identification code, which let us know about the good and bad about it. We can find anyone of these codes,

  • #1  PET or PETE: Polyethylene Terephthalate
PET is commonly used for soft drink & water bottles, cooking oil bottles, peanut butter containers. It is the most widely recycled plastic.

  •  #2   HDPE: High-Density Polyethylene
Identifies milk, cider & water jugs, detergent, fabric softener & bleach bottles. HDPE is slightly waxy and semi-rigid. It does not crack. It floats in water.

  •  #3    PVC: Polyvinyl Chloride
Also abbreviated V, PVC is used in salad dressing bottles, vegetable oil bottles and mouthwash bottles. PVC is smooth, scratches easily and sinks in water.

  •  #4   LDPE: Low-Density Polyethylene
LDPE is used in flexible bags for dry cleaning, trash, produce, bread and shrink wrap. Recycled LDPE is often used to make grocery bags.

  •  #5   PP: Polypropylene
PP is usually is found in drinking straws, battery cases, some dairy tubs, bottles labels and caps, and rope. PP stretches into filaments and emits a chemical smell when burned.

  • #6    PS: Polystyrene
PS and Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) both are No. 6 plastics. PS and EPS are commonly used in packaging peanuts and other packaging materials and in plastic utensils, mean and egg trays. PS sinks in water; EPS floats.

  •  #7    Other (Usually Poly carbonate )
Other plastics often are made of multiple resins or layers of different types of plastics. Baby bottles, microwave ovenware, eating utensils, plastic coating for metal cans

What is good Plastic or Recyclable:
Plastics #1, which is normally used for mineral water bottles and soft drink bottles, could be dangerous to use too. These bottles should be recycled after one time use.Plastic bottles with code #1 was built by polymer Polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Researchers in Italy  found that(2003), water inside the PET bottles will release a chemical called Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) slowly after the bottle is being used for 9 month. DEHP could cause cancer and might have negative effect on male’s testicle. When a male’s body was high in DEHP level, the number of sperm inside will decreased and the it will damage the sperm’s DNA too.

Plastic #2 bottle that is also safe to use , which you can see it on baby’s milk bottles and plastic bags. It can stand the water heat up to 120C.

Plastic bottle  #5 is the safest to use, . It can sustained heat up to 135 degree Celsius, so don’t worry to use it to contain hot waters, while #1 PET bottles can’t go further than 70C.

Plastics #3, #6, and #7 have been associated with negative health effects .
    Plastic#7
Made with Bis phenol A(many of the feeding bottle companies like Avent faced big issues because of BPA ), a chemical invented in the 1930s in search for synthetic estrogen. A hormone disruptor. Simulates the action of estrogen when tested in human breast cancer studies. Can leach into food as product ages. so its Bad .

Most of the baby feeding bottles are made by Polycarbonate (Plastic #7). So please don't use plastic feeding bottles,  use only glass bottles.

      Hi
I wonder if I can use the image recycled plastics in a book published on plastic recycling in Brazil, if I can use I need a written authorization giving permission.
      Thanks
